On May 17, 2025, SSIT (SP-SSA International Terminal) successfully welcomed the M/V ZIM WILMINGTON of the “Lone Star Express/ZSL” service connecting Vietnam and the U.S. East Coast operated by MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A.) and ZIM (ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.).
The M/V ZIM WILMINGTON is one of 12 vessels in the fleet deployed on the new service - Lone Star Express/ZSL, which is operated by MSC and ZIM, directly connects cargo flow from Vietnam and East Asia with US East Coast ports and Singapore.
According to the General Statistics Office, for the first four months of 2025, the United States was Vietnam’s largest export market, with a turnover of 43.4 billion USD, contributing to a growth of 13% in total export over the same period last year. This growth in the demand for goods to the U.S. has resulted in demand for new service between the two Countries such as MSC and Zim’s Lone Star Express/ZSL.
Moreover, with the advantage of optimizing delivery time from Vietnam to the US, this new route practically supports customers to enhance capacity to align with market demands and bring significant benefits to consumers in the US in particular and globally in general.
“SSIT greatly appreciates the trust displayed by MSC and ZIM, in particular, Mr. Benoit de Quillacq – MSC Vietnam’s Managing Director and Mr. Fernando De La Rosa – ZIM Vietnam’s Managing Director, with MSC and ZIM teams in allocating this new container service to SSIT for cargo handling, thus promoting the increasingly prosperous trade relations between Vietnam and the United States. SSIT will continuously strive to further improve its “World class service”, being one of the largest deep-sea terminals in the Country and making an important contribution to the development of the Cai Mep Region and the Vietnam seaport system”, said Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, General Director of SSIT.
SSIT sincerely thanks the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, Vung Tau Port Authority, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, and all other relevant government agencies and departments for their continued support.
